Beschreibung

Running from Spiders is a heartfelt, honest, and clear look at what enduring, and recovering from, childhood abuse is like.

This series of personal letters and essays wasn't originally intended for public consumption, but as a personal therapeutic tool for the author. She decided to publish her stories in hopes it helps people better understand adults who have survived childhood abuse. She also wants to encourage those who have survived to tell their story and to find some healing and self-love.

Over the course of seven essays the author shares about her 5 abusers and names many of the abuse incidents she endured. She then takes you behind the scenes of therapy by bringing you into her sessions and the therapeutic exercises she tried along the way.

Lastly, she shares that the accumulation, and duration, of her childhood abuse fused itself into a form of PTSD known as Complex Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (C-PTSD). She talks through the shock and relief of the diagnosis and what it's like living life with C-PTSD.

To create imagery to help tell her story she engaged a generative AI called Deep AI using language from her letters and essays.
