We should learn from our past, but it seems we don’t. Trump aside, the Middle East conflict has flared up worse than before, and many of the other global conflicts and tensions that are highlighted in this volume are still with us unresolved. All the posturing and platitudes that emanated from the anger surrounding George Floyd’s murder proved as useful to addressing the real issues as someone offering ‘an unreserved apology.’ Meanwhile, the rich get richer and the poor poorer.
