Beschreibung
In my professional learnings and travels, I discovered a lot of young people (old alike) find the Nigerian wedding culture incomprehensible, despite its aesthetics. The culture, I believe, provides enduring legacies and memories for anyone that has experienced it. Having worked for hundreds of clients in my event's business as a celebrated Alaga (master of ceremony), I humbly offer, freely and willingly, my contribution to the traditional marriage literature. The book is a compendium of my professional experience, ideas, and understanding of what makes the Nigerian wedding party one of the world's most radiant and colourful events. I delved deeply into the beautiful institution of marriage and found the processes that make it a unique adventure. From the Yorùbá, Hausa to the Igbo and other sub-ethnicities, this book tells a story of their presence, how they are still valued and respected and the practices that have upheld their marital institutions. The book fills a literature gap in educational, socio-cultural and traditional institutions. Since marriage for generations, has only been a transferred knowledge without documented information that can help shape the ideas and knowledge bank of the future. Considering modernity, especially technology, this book reminiscence our traditional marriage cultural values. With many young people growing into marriageable ages, this book takes them around Nigeria and gives first-hand information on Nigeria's traditional marriages. From academics to Alagas, to event planners and MCs, families and many others, this book is the ideal Nigerian wedding encyclopedia, which offers meaning into our current existence. As the Nigerian wedding industry gets bigger and better, the need for theoretical illustrations of its practices has become imperative. Hence, this is a must-read book for all.
