Il ruolo che Montaigne assegna all’immaginazione si intreccia agli usi della ragione e si sviluppa come capacità progettuale nella vita e nella storia oltre che come facoltà di creare un vincolo intersoggettivo. Da tali elementi, e dall’analisi dei fenomeni cui essa darebbe luogo, scaturisce la posizione di Montaigne di fronte a magia e stregoneria e, in particolare, il suo giudizio sull’«affaire» Martin Guerre.-----The role Montaigne assigns to imagination is entwined with the use of reason and besides its faculty to create an intersubjective bond developes a capacity to plan life and history. Montaigne’s attitude towards magic and witchcraft and in particular his judgement of the Martin Guerre affair originate from these elements and the analysis of the phenomena deriving from them.
