L’Elba, oggi, è quasi tutta un giardino. Macchia mediterranea spontanea, libera o potata ad arte, boschi di lecci e corbezzoli, grandi pini domestici, palme, cipressi e piante ornamentali nelle strade, nelle aiole, nei giardini, negli alberghi, piante grasse nei vasi e negli orci. Questo libro descrive la maggior parte dei più interessanti giardini dell’isola, con ricchezza di informazioni storiche (dall’Elba brulla delle miniere a quella delle ville del più recente turismo).-----Today Elba is almost entirely a garden with its typical scrub vegetation, left to grow wild or trimmed as artistic topiary, woods of holm oaks and strawberry trees, large stone-pines, palms, cypresses and ornamental plants lining the streets, in flowerbeds, in gardens, in hotels, with cacti in pots and large pitchers. A description of some of the most interesting gardens on the Island, enhanced by historical information of when Elba was a barren mining area to its present status of tourism and holiday homes.
