Beschreibung

How far are athletes willing to go to achieve success? And at what cost?

Half the Battle: The Heroes of Everything Series follows a young basketball player named Thora, as she experiences the recent loss of her parents due to a tragic accident and is forced to face a new reality without them. As she begins navigating this unexpected life with her siblings and her aunt, Thora must figure out how to cope with the grieving process while in the midst of a league championship - an opportunity to continue her mother's legacy and escape from the town's sorrows.

Half the Battle explores a topic that is often overlooked; the pressure athlete's feel to succeed and the consequences it has on their mental well being. Through Thora's journey, this novel will touch on important questions that will encourage positive conversations that lead to change. Questions such as, should coaches have any role in educating their athletes about mental health? Are there ways we can normalize and prioritize mental health through all athletic departments? What are the long-term consequences of ignoring mental health?
