This is the place where two wandering Australians found work, started a family with a tiny, premature baby and made life- long friends. They lived in a stone cottage by the lake where the seasons' dramatic changes echo the critical times in their own lives and their countries contemporary histories. Set in the '60's during the Vietnam War when both America and Australia were agonizing about their involvement, the lake becomes the core for experiencing a culture that changes them both. Classified in the past, as 'permanent aliens' now tourists, they are flying with their daughter, now a beautiful young woman who has dual nationality; she wants to return to the place where she was born, where the snow had fallen into a blizzard, the lake iced over, where she had raced after the ducks in Spring...the time and place where the doctors had given her two percent chance of survival. This is a story of time and place and the people within that story
